Lizzie SharmanLizzie creates unique hand worked pieces using natural fibres, often sourced locally. She uses the colours and textures suggested by the landscape and by the seasonal changes she can see around her studio, as well as gathering ideas from European folk art and from historic costumes. Lizzie incorporates various traditional techniques including hand spinning, inkle weaving, fairisle knitting and felting. This gives her work both a nostalgic, heirloom quality and a contemporary artistic edge. |
